High Voltage Dollhouse

Today over at The Geek Group we did a "Will it Fry?" video with one of my dollhouses. This poor house lived through a flooding while still in the box and never quite fit together right. I tried anyway and eventually realised it was missing pieces, so I offered it up for the cause. The furniture was needed for breakout points and worked well. The furniture came out completely unharmed and the house wasn’t bad either – some holes in the upper floor but you could hide them if you wanted.

Mary?s Miniatures is Proud to Announce the Addition of Lee?s Line, Fine Furnishings in Miniature

Mary’s Miniatures is Proud to Announce the Addition of Lee’s Line, Fine Furnishings in Miniature

DollHouse

North Oaks, MN (PRWEB) January 24, 2011

Mary’s Miniatures is proud to announce the addition of Lee’s Line, fine furnishings in miniature.

This recent addition offers a new line of beautiful and elegant, handcrafted dollhouse furniture. Each piece of furniture reflects current, classic and contemporary dollhouse furniture styles; and Lee’s Minis’ hand crafted dollhouse furniture is versatile enough to blend with almost any style of dollhouse furniture.

Mary Konkel, owner of Mary’s Miniatures, is extremely pleased with this addition, as it complements her already existing product line of over 16,000 miniature products.

Konkel, owns and operates an online miniature business called Mary’s Miniatures, and her products are typically 1:12 scale in size. If one checks out her website, http://www.marysminitures.net, they’ll immediately see the scale of her items.

Konkel said, her love of miniature crafting began 30 years ago, when she gave her then-7-year-old daughter, a wooden dollhouse as a gift. She finished the floors of the dollhouse with Popsicle sticks, and put up miniature wallpaper. Then she started accessorizing. That led her to a local craft store, where she met a saleslady who was into miniatures.

“She was so excited to talk about miniatures,” said Konkel. “She had done a lot of it herself, and we got to be friends. I fed off her ideas.”

After creating a number of pieces, Konkel was able to fully accessorize the dollhouse. But then her newfound hobby was shelved, due to the business of life. It wasn’t until 2008 that she got back into her miniature pastime ….in a big way.

The dollhouse that inspired Konkel’s hobby has now been passed down to her granddaughters, who are 3, 7 and 10.

Konkel says, a one-time hobby has evolved into a full-time online business. What started as all handcrafted miniatures, has grown into well over 16,000 miniature dollhouse products, including Handley House, Bright delights and now, Lee’s Line.

Mary’s website utilizes the latest online technology for product updating and buyer checkout features.

Konkel said one of her favorite stories involves one of her seven grandchildren and her miniatures.

“She woke up and said ‘Grandma, I woke up and I’m thinking tiny,” she laughed. “And I said ‘You know what? So am I.’”

How To Make Your Own Miniature Dollhouse?

by betsyjean79

How To Make Your Own Miniature Dollhouse?

Parents love their children so much that they want to give them everything. But taxing the pocket normally will stop their children from having their toys. So, here we are, sharing with you how to make your own doll house.

All children especially girls, they all love to play with dolls. They will dress them up and visit each other’s house and have tea, network and play cooking. They love to pretend to be mothers or daughters or good friends. This is how dolls, dollhouses, toy furnitures for the hall, kitchen, and bedroom all started.

Manufacturers are so clever to create them in a miniature size made of wood, good quality plastics and paper cutting. Some of these things can be pretty expensive in the market therefore you can create your own by just being creative. When creating miniature dolls or furniture or houses for your children, get them involve bringing out their creativity. Ask them for suggestions and apply their suggestion onto those items you are about to create.

Here we explain how you can create your own miniature toy furniture’s or houses and many more. First, decide on the material you like to use. As a beginner, I recommend you start with cardboard, boxes, then with wood. As you improve, you can then venture into plastics or metal. You can even create 3D with wooden boxes.

Measure the size of the doll you have then get the right scale of the house to fit the doll. Give extra room on the ceiling as well as enough room for the doll to have a bed in the house. You would not want the doll’s leg hanging out at the edge of the bed or the house. Children are not concern about having the furniture’s, tables, beds into the house except they must have their doll walking around in the house and able to sit on the chair and have tea with their other doll friends.

Think how you like the house to look like and begin sketching it. Create the doors, windows, draw them on the cardboard or boxes and cut it out. After you have completely cut everything you need for the house, does some painting on them would make the house looking prettier when it is completed. Use pastel colors for the wall in order to make the house looking more spaces. You can also use lovely present papers for the wall. Unwanted carpets or lace or fabrics lying around in your house can be used as carpet for this miniature house.

Once you have completed on the walls, windows and floor, next is the curtains. Use the fishing string, cut two lengths of it and cut some lace fabric.  Stick the lace fabric on the fishing string and hang on the window. Stick some pretty beads on both the ends of the fishing string to secure the hold of the curtain and for the final touch for the window, cut some nice pictures representing outside scenery and paste this on the window.

Finally have cupboard, furniture, tables, bed, dressing table, sofas, telephone, lighting, standing fan, all of these made by you and place them nicely at the appropriate place in the house. You might like to decorate them with pillows, flower pots, picture frames to enhance the look of yourself made little dollhouse.

I am the a person who have loved to make miniature houses since young and this hobby of mine has provided me a creative mind.
